We will be open late in Luthersburg on November 21st to participate in the world-wide Annie Sloan Late event! Bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation campaign and leave with a trio of hand-painted trees that you design and create. Contact me to reserve your time slot.
Update: tress are all reserved! Thank you so much for supporting Toys for Tots! If you missed out on this event, contact me early next year to reserve your spot :) I often paint a lot of furniture in Old White, French Linen, Paris Gray, and Old Ochre. These are beautiful neutral colors that coordinate with many styles of home decor. I've tried to expand lately and experiment with brighter colors. These peg racks are done in a two color distressed method with some pretty custom mixed shades. I also practiced mixing colors on some Mason jars. Choose your favorite color and try adding Old White or Pure White until you achieve the color you love! For some great color inspiration, stop over and visit Leslie Stocker's awesome blog, Colorways. http://paintcolorways.blogspot.com Some folks have commented to me that it's a shame to paint wood furniture. I agree - in some cases. I would never paint over a beautiful, good quality antique furniture piece. However, many old pieces can be saved and reloved by a little TLC and some paint (well, Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan, of course!). This buffet above is the perfect example. It was water damaged, moldy, warped, and had veneer beyond repair. After removing the damage, the frame was sturdy and worth saving. Add some awesome color, fabric accents, and sweet knobs from Anthropologie and I now have an awesome display piece. Destined for the dump? No way! re.invent it!
I am happy to now be carrying these vintage washed flannels from Farmstead of California! These unique, one-of-a-kind shirts will quickly become your new old favorite No two are alike! Sizes s-xxl. And they smell delicious! Stay tuned for Farmstead's linen spray, fabric softener, and candles in the same amazing scent!
